Our Curriculum
We are parents first so everything we create for your children is with our own children in mind too. We look at each unique child and tailor our curriculum to their interests. Our curriculum is designed to be both fun and educational, incorporating a variety of activities such as:
Our staff model language by being curious learners alongside your children. They are trained to ‘wonder what will happen if..’ to encourage children to think and respond in order to reach a learning goal.
We have created a language rich environment that supports children with their communication and language skills beginning with simple language in the baby room that gradually builds to a higher level in order to support children to use and understand complex sentences in pre-school.
We place importance on the use of books, natural objects, exploratory materials and weekly trips to help to build children’s language skills for all ages.
Outdoor play is a vital part of our curriculum at HOW Nurseries. We have a safe outdoor area where children can run, jump, and explore. Activities include gardening, nature walks, and organised games that promote physical fitness and teamwork.
Developing a love for reading starts early at HOW Nurseries.
Through engaging storytelling, children enhance their listening skills, vocabulary, and comprehension. We also incorporate activities such as puppet shows, rhymes, and songs to make literacy fun and interactive.
There are plenty of opportunities to learn the concepts of maths through the activities that are always available in the environment. Children will weigh natural objects in the mud kitchen, count out fruit at snack time and observe shapes in the environment during walks outside of the nursery. We will teach maths in our everyday observations and model mathematical language to support children’s knowledge and understanding.
